Ans. Yes, Kari used to enjoy his morning bath in the river. He would lie down on the sand and the author would rub his back with clean sand for an hour. After that, he would stay in the water for a long time.

Ans. The author would climb all varieties of trees to get the most delicate twigs for Kari. If a twig was deformed, an elephant would not even touch it. So, finding good twigs for Kari took a long time.

Ans. Kari pushed his friend into the stream because there was a boy who was drowning in the river. Kari alone was not able to take the boy out of the water.

Ans. Kari learnt the commands to sit and to walk. The word “Dhat” was used to make him sit. The word used to make him walk was “Mali”. 

Q 8. What is “the master call”? Why is it the most important signal for an elephant to learn? 

Ans. The master call is a strange howling, hissing sound. It sounds as if a snake and a tiger were fighting with each other. This noise has to be made in his ear. When an elephant hears the master call, he uproots the trees and makes a passage through the jungle to the house.
