ADJECTIVES
Adjectives are words that describe or modify
other words. E.g., big, red, two etc
Order of Adjectives :
What we think, size, age, shape, colour, material and origin. E.g. A wonderful
old Italian clock
Types of Adjectives
1# Articles – There are three articles –
a, an, the. The articles a, an – are used for non specific things and people
and therefore, called indefinite article. E.g. I’d like to have a banana.
The article ‘the’ specifies therefore it is
called definite article. E.g., Once upon time, there lived a boy
in the jungle. The boy was very intelligent.
2# Possessive Adjective – My, Your, His, Her, Its, Our, Their etc.

Demonstrative Adjective –
it is used to demonstrate or indicate specific people, thing or animal. These,
those, that , and this

Coordinate Adjective –
they are separated by a comma or by the word and, and appear one after
the other to modify the same noun. Like Hot, sunny day …bold and
beautiful girl.

Numbers Adjective –
When numbers are used in a sentence, they are always adjective. If they answer
the question ‘how many’ then you can ascertain that it is adjective. Like I
have two pencils.

Interrrogative Adjective –
which, what and whose is the three interrogative adjectives. Like What time
should we leave?

Indefinite Adjective –
They do not specify the quantity. Like many, several, few etc
8#Attributive
Adjective – The
list mentioned in the earlier order of adjective, all those aspects come under
attributive adjective as they talk about specific traits, qualities, age,
color, shape etc.

The difference between a determiner and
adjective (article) – both modify a noun or a noun phrase, however, a
determiner is placed before a noun and introduces the noun to the listener or
reader while the adjectives modifies the noun.
Adjectives can be graded while determiners cannot be graded. Determiners
are necessary while the adjectives are optional.

The difference between possessive adjective and
possessive pronoun is that a possessive adjective is followed by a noun while
possessive pronoun is used without a noun.
Degrees of Adjective
There are three
degrees of adjectives. Positive, comparative and superlative. Comparative as
the name suggests compares and can be identified with the word than in
the sentence.
Like Ram is taller
than Shyam.
In superlative
degree, the comparison is there yet, it is mention that it is the best among
all the compared thing or person and can be identified with the use of the.
Like Ram is the tallest
among all the students of his class.
